Rise and fall of the CKA Exam (Certified Kubernetes)
Well, where do I start this is my first publication, I have the 3 Kubernetes certifications (CKAD, CKA and CKS) from the CNCF the first time I took the exam (2020) I really felt quite satisfied with the exam.
However, I must say that this time the experience to renew was totally different, between the implementation of PSI Secure Browser, a browser that is completely unusable on linux and that has numerous complaints in the linux foundation discussion forums and that caused I to have to repeat the exam, since the proctor stopped the exam after 5 minutes due to a bug in the controversial browser that didn’t allow him to see my screen, so I had to create a ticket and wait 2 weeks to reschedule the exam.
You can see the large number of problems with PSI Secure Browser on linux here: https://forum.linuxfoundation.org/search?query=PSI%20Secure%20Browser&scope=site&source=community
If you have linux and PSI is your only option to take an exam then…
Althought all this, when I was finally able to take the exam without problems (from a MacBook) and I passed with a score of 86 (without having studied anything) but… I found problems with the exam itself… it was too easy, the first time I took the exam I remember that it was extremely complicated and with a minimum score of 74 for pass said exam, I remember questions that included repairing nodes due to certificate problems, even creating users using the authority certificate, today I find myself with much simpler questions (which due to the exam rules I am not going to mention here) and with a minimum score of 66 to pass, so the question is, does this exam still serve to certify the knowledge of a kubernetes administrator? in my opinion it is no longer.
This exam used to be incredibly complex and we could assure that if someone passed it is because they really had knowledge about Kubernetes.
It is truly sad since now anyone can pass the CKA exam.
